Energy Infrastructure Consenting consultation

Douglas has written to constituents to urge them to participate in the ongoing consultation for Energy infrastructure.

The UK and Scottish Governments are currently consulting on proposed reforms to the energy infrastructure consenting process in Scotland. These changes could significantly impact local communities in the North East.  

Under the proposed reforms, the right to a public inquiry could be removed, making it easier for large-scale projects to be approved without adequate scrutiny or local input. Labour and the SNP appear intent on dismantling vital protections for communities, showing a complete disregard for local democracy and the voices of the people that live there.  

Douglas believes these changes could result in projects being railroaded through, with little regard for the concerns of residents or the impact on local areas. This is a critical moment to stand up for our local communities and ensure local voices are heard.  

The consultation is open until Friday 29th November 2024, and Douglas strongly encourage residents to submit their thoughts. You can participate in the consultation through the following methods:
